The acquisition of real estate in Switzerland by foreign persons are restricted and subject to official authorisation. Once a property is selected a notary will apply on behalf of the client to the Cantonal Authorities for an authorisation permit.  This can take a few weeks or months depending on the current status of permit allowances.  Only once the permit to buy is obtained the acquisition can be completed.  To note also that non-Swiss families can only own one property in Switzerland at any one time.

The canton of Valais in which GRIMENTZ is situated  is restricting the resale of the property within 5 years of ownership. Once this time has elapsed it is possible to sell the property to a resident or non-swiss residents with no restrictions.

However, EU or EFTA citizens domiciled in Switzerland are not subject to any restrictions and thus have exactly the same rights as Swiss nationals regarding any acquisition of real estate in Switzerland.
